Charles P. Pierce, otherwise known as Charlie Pierce (born December 28, 1953) is an American sportswriter.
Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, Pierce currently writes for the Boston Globe Sunday magazine, a position he has held since April 2002. He has also written for the The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Esquire and GQ magazines, and the e-zine Slate as well as the Media Matters blog Altercation, hosted by historian/pundit Eric Alterman.
Pierce also makes appearances on radio; he is a frequent contributor to NPR programs Only A Game and Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!
Pierce also represented the Globe on several occasions on Around the Horn.
Pierce was raised as a Roman Catholic, according to his own statements on Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!
Pierce is a graduate of Marquette University.
Trivia
His mother was conceiving him during the Worcester Tornado of June 1953.
